Government has expressed officially its
sppreciatioa of Commander McCrea'a
efforts in southern waters in a lettor to
the State Department. The letter,
(which ia signed by Count von Quadt,
First Secretary of the Embassy, says:
''I have received instructions from
the Imperial Government its warmest
thanks for Captain McUrea's prompt
and effective action in behalf of German
citizens whose interests were at Btane.
I take special pleasure in bringing this
to Your Excellency's notice, and I will
avail myself of this occasion to renew to
Your Excellency the assurances of my
distinguished consideration."
