Large Attendance and the Celebra

The I'ouith ol July celebratio'i at
Lexington was largely aMend-il and
wan pronounced a so i its by nil.
Not withstanding tl,i. fact ihut tin
wealher wus. threatening in the morn
ing, people turned out from all over the
county and were on the grounds early.
It did riot rain but the heavy wind made
it very diHligieeable f ,r the bail game
and races on the hill. In the grove
there was no dust and everything passed
ofT pleasantly.
lleppner was well represented. About
b'0 people went down . n the train from
this city, in the r oinuig, while many
others went in private conveyance".
The procession formed just belore the
train pulled in and wan lengthened con
siderably by the addition of the llepp
ner contingent. The piocession was at
tractive, headed by the Lexington band j
in their fine hand wagm. The liberty
car drawn by ('. i. Kil'jua's fine team
was a feature that caused favorable
comment. The little girls dressed in
white and the profusion 'if flags butter
ing in the breeze presented a beautiful
sight.
Attorney S. K. Notion was president
of the dav and Grand Marshal Andrew
Keany and Sheriff K. M. Shult as assist
ant were in evidence. The best of or-
Dr prevailed.
At the grove the usual sights at a
Lourth of July celebration were not
lacking. Thre was the musical voice
of the stand spieler telling aU about the
good lemonade, the inerrygoroiind with
a music box that wouldn't work, small
boys with big firecrackers, and many
other features that recalled pleasant
recollections of childhood days.
TIip grandstand was nicely decorated.
In front, benches were arranged for
