burned out Sunday night. The com
pany deserves credit for the quick work
in repairing the structure and not de

Howard's groi-ery store is a very pop
ular place for the purchase of supplies
for (armors and outfits for outing in the
Way of extra fine groceries. Almost
everything imaginable kept in stock.

Morrow county's new court house
finished Tuesday, Foundation work
will be commenced the first of next
week. Most of the contracts for con
struction work have been signed and

Jack Finds came in Monday morning
wilh a six horse team from Monument,

was a hard one. Some of the ditlieiil

W. F.. Junkin, who died at Hardiuan
Wednesday of last week, of heart
trouble, was born May 2', 17:5, near
Hardman. Mr. Junkin was an exem
plary yoing man and was a general
favorite among his associates. He m
very steady, hard working young man
and his death cast a gloom of sorrow
over the entire community.
CHAMBERLAIN IN HEPPNER.
Spoka to a Large Audience at the
Opera House.
Saturday was Hem iciatic day in
Heppner, and the followers of Mr.
Chamberlain and democracy were quite
enthusiastic in meeting the Democratic
state candidates,
(ieo, E. Chamberlain accompanied
by Hon. Henry lilackman, W. A. Warn
and Walter M. Fierce, came in on the
evening train. Considerable prepara
tion hal been made for the event. It
having been arranged for the train to
g) hack to lone after the speaking,
about J of) poeple came up from lone
and Lexington. The Lexington band
was among the visitors.
The state candidates were met at the
lepot by several of the prominent
Democrats, including Hon. J. W. Mor
row and others. They came up Main
street amid music, (tying colors and the
booming of cannon.
The lore contingent wore long white
barges with Chamberlain iu (lowing
letters nrinted thereon. J A. Woolery
ed .lie van, and his badge far out-
lassed any ol the rest of the visitors,
for it reached from his sho'ilder almost
to th ground.
The bright red Furnish buttons that
were ussd to fasten the white Chamber
lain baJge in a great many instances
were quite conspicuous.
Mr. Chamberlain was well received.
The Lexington and Heppner bands
played Beveral pieces in the street be
fore the speaking. The opera house
was packed. At tha opera house the
exercises were opened by a beautiful
solo by Miss Welch, Heppner's charm
ing tongstress.
Hon. J. W. Morrow presided over
ihe meeting and on the stage w ere the
state and county candidates and several
prominent I 'e i ocrats.
Uon. Henry P.'ackman was the firs1
speaker, arid being a Heppner man arid
so well known, was greeted with ap
plause. In a brief speech ho outline. 1 his po
sition. In a short speech which was
nicely delivered Hon J. W. Moriuw in
troduced Hon. l eo. K. Chamberlain,
who was very cordially received. Mr.
Chamberlain spoke for an hour and

who is dishonorable in politics will be
