    Dizziness
Is a very common consequence of indi
gestion and torpid liver. Sometimes
there are spots before the eyes and bet
flashes. At other times a sensation as
of vertigo occurs, at once suffocating and
blinding. It is a 'waste of time to at
tempt to cure this
condition by or
dinary means or
medicines. The
stomach and
organs of diges
tion and nutrition
must be restored
to healthy activ
ity, the blood
must be purified,
the liver cleansed
and strengthened,
before a cure can
be hoped for. This
is the work done
by Dr. Pierce's
Golden Medical
Discovery, a med
icine specially
beneficial in dis
eases of the stom
ach, blood and
liver. It strength
ens the stomach,
purifies the blood,
cleanses the clog
ged liver, and pro
motes the health
of every organ of
the body.
"My wife m greatly troubled with indirec
tion, torpid liver, disiiness, and also irregular
period!," writes Mr. W. A. Preston, of Shuqua
lak, NoKubee Co., Miu. " We tried ma ny differ
ent remedies, but none of them gave perfect re
lief until we were induced by a lady to try your
"ooiaen Meaicai inscovery, -jravorue irescnp-
tion,' and 'Pleasant Pellets.' These medicines
did more good than anything we ever tried for
those complaints. We have used four bottles of
your ' Golden Medical Discovery,' one of ' Favor
ite Prescription,' and two vials of your ' Pellets.'
These medicines have done the work we de
sired, and I do heartily recommend them to all
similar sufferers.'' )
Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets assist the
action of the "Discovery."
HEPPNER GROWS.
A sure indication of a town's
growth is the growth of its post
office business, lleppner's post
master, Dr. B. F. Vaughan, has
been notified that his salary will
be raised July 1st from $1400 to
$1500. Two years ago it was
raised $100, and business has been
increasing all the time.
When Joe Williams took the
office 6 years ago the salary was
only 61100.
It first became a salaried office
under Squire Mallory, in '89.
About 25 years ago, when Uncle
Jack Morrow had it established,
the salary was nothing the first
year and double it the second, In a
few years it began to be more both
er than any other department of
the Morrow & Herren store, and
when a fresh eastern inspector
came along and started in to dic
tate how the infant institution
must be run, he was invited to
take bis old post office and git.
Cash Mallory took the office in
'78 and ran it in the drug store he
had just bought from Dr. A. J.
Hliobe, lleppner's pioneer physi
cian. Cash, was very patient un
der the many inflictions of the
office, and when a man left his
measuie for a letter it was always
ready at the time agreed on.
CaHh will be glad to read that
the infant postollice he nursed
along is now able to stand up and
bo counted and draw a fair salary.
The office was established at the
request of Uncle Jack Morrow,
through Senator Slater, and was
named at Mr. Morrow's request in
honor of his then business partner,
the pioneer merchant, Henry
lleppner.
WIIKAT, WOOL AND STOCK.
Portland, Msy 30. About the only
wliout moving in Portland at present is
that which is going from the warehouse

it is the fag-end of the season, but, as
cargoes have been provided for about
all of the ships, their presence does not
cut much of a figure on the market sit

and villages, and the propie of the sur
rounding country can now feel safe in
planning to enjoy a big celebration on
the coming Fourth of Ju'y.
Morrow County Is we'l managed, and
is almost out of debt. The centre of the
county is it most productive part. Its
northern end is semi-arid, but when ir
rigated will produce most bountifully.

THE OPEN DOOR.
Oscar Schafer was over from hie
ranch on Wall creek Monday, and
his many friends were all glad to
see him. lie raised 1242 lambs
from 1263 ewes, 95 of which went
dry. Most of his neighbors got
oyer 100 per cent increase.
When Oscar comes to lleppner,
42 miles, he always leaves his
door unlocked, so that any passer
by may enter and cook a meal if
hungry. This has alwajs been
his custom, with no bad results.
When Squire Mallory and Gov.
Rea used to have a law office in
John Natter's building they al
ways left the door open, with bad
results. lhe children coming
home from school looked in at the
open door and then went in and
cracked nuts on the notary seals.
