ADVERTISING PAYS.
Some physicians are finally beginning;
to see tbe advantages derived from ad
vertising on a large scale; and wby not,
since they derive their revenue from the
public? They long held to the idea
that they can conduct their practice
without expending money for printer's
ink, and probably they would continue
to do so were it not for the fact that the
fake doctors, as they are generally called,
are beginning to make great inroads on
the practice of the resident physician.
Every few weeks we are visited by some
"specialist" who takes out several hun
dred dollars and does it by merely tel
ling the public what he can do. It is
false modesty on tbe part of a physician
to say that he does not consider adver
tising dignified. The real question is a
matter of dollars and cents. At this
time when patent medicines are on the
market that will cure anything from a
"corn to a mortgage on your property",
the wise doctor will begin to tell what he
can do with his paraphernalia and his
store of wisdom and experience. Ar
