A Stjbphisb Dinnbb. On Friday,
last, Feb. 22, Mrs. E. J. Boyer was
given a surprise dinner by a number of
her friends, this being tbe anniversary ot
ber birthday. By a little eohemelng,
Mrs. Boyer was persuaded to leave borne
on that day for a visit with a friend,
thus giving an opportunity for those
giving the dinner to come in and have
everything id readiness for ber return.
At tbe appointed hour Mrs. Boyer was
oalled home and was greatly surprised
to find her bouse filled with visitors that
she had mt invited, and tbe table set
with a fine dinner. Her surprise was
oomplete, but it was most enjoyable.
Those present were: Mrs. Yawter
Crawford, Mrs. C. Spray, Mrs. E. Q.
Sloan, Mrs. P. O. Borg, Mrs. N. S.
Whetstone, Mrs. Jas. Jones, Mrs. Sarab
Hayes, Mrs. Jos. Hayes, Mrs. E. Minor,

Yon need a blood-purifier. We make
this assertion with confidence, because
it is a fact tbat tt-are is scarcely one
person in ten tboutinnd whose blood is
free from humors, scrofula, acids, or
some taint, eitber hereditary or no
quired. Pimples, blotches, eruptions
are not tbe only judications. D bility,
lack of energy, depression of spirits, loss
of appetite, rheumatics pain, poor sleep,
headache, dizziness, epeoas noatiug
before tbe eyes, and mBny otber symp
toms plainly indioate the need of a
thorough cleansing of tbe blood. Tbe
longer yon delay, the more difficult will
be the on re. Tbe medioine to take is
Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and the time to
begin ia now. Continue to take it
through March, April and May, or nutil
you feel that healtb and strength are
fully restored, whioh will be when all
those painful and troublesome symptoms
are entirely removed. Tbe young, the
old, tbe middle-aged alike need the
potent but benign influence of Ayer's
Sarsaparilla, tbe best of blood medioines.
Feeding Houses to Hoos. Ab un
heard of procedure on tbe part of feeders
of swine is being practioed by some in
this seotion. They are buying ping
horses and feeding them to bogs. John
Markley has fed to bis bogs about sixty
horses, and Jess Finley, another hog
raiser, has utilized the same number.
They pay for them from 50 cents to
$3.50 each, knook them In the bead, skin
them, then throw their caroasses in tbe
hogpen. It ia said that Mr. Markley bas
fed bis hogs on borne flesh so long tbat
now If one rides or leads a horse into
tbe pen the bogs will rush at him and it
is with difficulty that they are prevented
from devouring bim.
Seably a Runaway. Yerterday near
Matlock's corner, Mr. Henry Heppner
might bave bad a serious runaway. He
left bia horse standing unhitched and
entered the saloon, and while there the
borse started down tbe street. As we
stated above, the borse might bave run
away, but be didn't; be walked a few
steps down the street and stopped.

Society adjourned indefinitely Saturday
night. Tbe debate oreated more interest
than nsual. The recitation by Miss
Eva Brian certainly is worthy of a great
deal of praise, as she rendered it in her
usual good style.
A Hnmorons Fact
About Hood's Sarsaparilla it expels bad
humor and creates good humor. A battle
for blood is what Hood's Barsaparilla
vigorously fights, and it ia always vic
torious in expelling foul taints and giv
log tbe vital Hold tneqnaiity and qnan-
tity of perfeol health. It Bores scrofula,
salt rheum, boils and otber blood dis
eases.
