Invalid 3 Years,
Cured by Hood's
Dodson
"C. T. Hood ti Co., Lowell, Mass. :
"Gentlemen: I am glad to tell you that!
have been given good health by Hood's
S.-irsaparllla. For three years I was an in
valid, suffering terribly from
Nervousness and Lameness.
11 1 was so nervous;! could not bear the least
noise, and I had to walk with crutches for
six months, as I could not put one of my feet
to the floor. Physicians did not do me any
good, so a friend told mo to get Hood's Sar
saparllla, but
I Said There Was No Use.
"However, after thinking tho matter over, I de
cided to give It a trial, and have taken six
bottles of Hood's Sarsaparllla, and the re
sult is that I am well as any one could wish
to be, and ran do any kind of work. I ad
vise all my friends to take Hood's Sarsapa
rllla for I believe it will do them good."
Miss Susie Ponsox, Colton, California.
Hood's Pills cure liver Ills, constipation,
biliousness. Jaundice, sick headache, indigestion.
Death. Thomas Robinson, who has
been a resident of this county for some
time, died on the last day of the old
year, at the residenoe of Wm. Bagley,
near this oity. Mr. Kobinson was born
March 12, 1812, and was married 1833.
Seven children were born to this union,
but one now surviving, Mrs. Wm.
Bagley. In '66 he oame to Amerioa from
England and settled at Canton, Ohio,
coming to tbe coast a few years ago.
His health had been failing for some
time. Hillsboro Argus. Mr. Robinson
was the grandfather of H. F. Bagley,
who is now reading law in tbe office of
J. N. Brown, of this city.
Sound Advick. An exchange has the
foil iwing sound advioe. Whether yon
fight or work, don't make too much fuss
about it. The ben cackles after she bas
laid ber eggs. Tbe noise and sizzle of
the locomotives are not force. All foroe
is silent. The bee baw of the mule may
startle you, but it is not nearly so dan
gerous as his hind legs. Bear in mind
that it is the empty wagon that rattles
most when in motion. The noise of tbe
drum is due to the fact that there is
nothing in it. Bear in mind that you
oan't startle the world by jumping up
and hollering "Boo !" Thought is the
great motive power, and don't you fall
into ths mistake of believing otherwise."
A Beautiful Calendar. "Winter
and "Summer" were never more ohnrm
ingly pictured than they are this season
on Hood's Sarsaparllla Calendar. This
oalendar is made in the shape of a heart
Bnd is ornamented with two child faces,
lithographed in bright and natural
colors, one peeping out, amid tbe snow
flakes, from a dainty cap, and the other
lighted np with all the glory of the
sumrctr sunshine. Tbe usual infor
mation about tbe lunar changes and
other astronomical events is given, and
the calendar, besides being "a thing of
beauty" is also useful every day in tbe
year. It may be obtained at tbe drug
gist's, or, if bis supply is exhausted, six
oents in stamps should be sent to C. I.
Hood & Co., proprietors Hood's Bursa
parilla, Lowell, Mass., who will forward
a calendar free. For ten oents two
calendars will be sent.
State Teachers' Association. An
exohange in speaking of tbe State
Teachers' Association, held in Portland
during the holidays, Bays it was tbe
largest gathering of the kind ever had
in tbe state of Oregon. Over seven hun
dred teaohers were present from different
parts of tbe state. Of course, tbe repre
sentation from Portland was very large,
but the delegations from Eastern Oregon
were without preoedent. It is probable
that one of the reau'ts of tbe uncom
monly large attendance from Eastern
Oregon, was tbe location of the next as
sociation at Hood river. Eastern Oregon
has never bad anything of the kind
hitherto, and it is but a just tribute to
tbe people of that portion of tbe state to
give tbem some recognition, and the
teachers were the first to do this. This
arrangement will oombine health, pleas
ure and culture since Hood river is at
tbe edge of Oregon's National Park
where health, atmosphere and eoenery
are as boundless as tbey are indescrib
able. Teaobers will in some instanoes
take along tht ir blankets and camping
outfits that tbey mayreoreate physically
as well as intellectually.
Two Lives Baved.

City, 111., was told by her doctors she had

Eggers, 139 Florida St., San Fraocieoo,
suffered from a dreadful cold, approach
ing consumption, tried without result
everything else then bought one bottle
of Dr. Kind's New Discovery and in two
weeks was cured. He isnattiaally thank
