The Entertainment. The enter
tainment lust Monday night, given by
the pupils of the Heppner sohool, under
the direction of their teachers, was a
splendid affair, and even at the low pnoe
of admittance netted over 840, to be
used for the purchase of apparatus.
Some of the leading features of the
occasion were the operetta, "The En
obanted Wood," by pupils, and the
German songs, by littU Johanna Abra
hamsick. The latter was heartily encored.
She has a beautiful voice and acquitted
herself moBt creditably. All iu all, the
little people rendered their parts muoh
better than was exneoted and both
pupils and teachers deserve the highest
praiso for their work, especially con
sidering the faot that there was a two
old olijeot in view, the desire to enter
tain their friends and to assist the dis
trict in the purchase of some apparatus
which is badly needed.
Leg Broken. Livingston MoBee had
the misfortune to break his right leg
last evening, while breaking a celt to
ride. He has been working for J, N.
blder for some time, and bad the colt
out on the Hinton oreek road. Near
Billy Straight's the animal became
obstreperous, much after the manner of
the average, unti.med, bunohgrass steed,
landing in a ditcb, McBee underneath,
falling on his leg as above stated, break
ing both bones just below the the knee.
He lay in that perilous position until
Mao Smith came to his relief and
drugged him out from under the horse.
Dr. Qagen was called, set the injured
bones and at last accounts young Mc
Bee was doing well.
Two Weeks Since Shot. Two weeks
today at noon, bad elapsed since the
unfortunate affair oocured in whioh R.
G. Thompson was shot and brought
home, as many thought, wounded to the
death. But, owing to skillful surgical
attendance, to a constitution strong and
preserved by regular living, and to the
loving ministration of family and friends,
the patient bas now, in the opinion of
all, Blmost passed the danger point and
is progressing fast toward recovery.
Considering the nature of the wound,
and the experience of the injured man
as he lay in the cold for three hours
after being shot, it is remarkable that
so favorable conditions are now existent.

Deafness Cannot be Cared
by local applications as tbey cannot
reach tbe diseased portion of tbe ear.
There is only one way to cure deafness,
Bnd that le by constitutional remedies.
Deafness is on used by an inflamed
condition of the mucuons lining
of tbe Eustachian Tube. When this
tube is inflamed you have a rumbling
sound of imperfeot bearing, and when it
is entirely closed, deafness is tbe result,
and unless tbe infiamation oan be taker
out and this tube restored to its normal
condition, beariug will be destroyed for
ever; nine oases out of ten are caused
by catarrh, which is nothing but an
inflamed oondition of tbe mucous

We will give one bnndred dollars for

that cannot be oured by Hall's Catarrh
