Several of Ibe Easttrn Oregon paper
have made mention of the name of StBte
Senator Heniy Blackman, of Heppner,
in oonneotion with tin demooratio enn
gresNional nomination in this district.
Mr. Bluckman is in no sense a candidate
for such honors, yet probably feels com
plimented to know of the estimation in
which be is held by so many in various
parts of the district. One thing certain
about Senator Blactkman. lie is an in
defutigable worker and at all times has
the interest of Eastern Oregon at heart.
Although young in years and commenc
ing the battle of life at the lowest rounl
of the ladder, he has Bhown himself to
be successful in all he undertakes, and
should he venture into national politios
he has many friends who will hope that
his uniform good luck will not desert
him.

H.M ALL POTATOES.
Six potatoes were left at this office
last Saturday by William H. Tinder, of
Hadley, that weighed 11 pounds and
2 ounces. They were of the White
Punch blow vari.'ty and were raised
without the aid of fertilizers. Mr. T. says
that out of seven hundred bushels, he
had one hundred bushels fullv as good
as these. Hendricks Co., (Ind) Gazette.
To an Oregoiiiau, these prize spuds of
Uoosierdom aro very small potatoes, for
they are raised here weighing as high as
8 pounds. If our Indiana funds duu't
beliete this, we refer them to Oregon's
Exhibit Car which is now euroute for
the East.
