Most of our cilizens bave read in the
columns of the Oregonian, the famous
interview between Heurv Blackwell, of
Long Creek, and one of their reporters.
Blackwell and the ecribe met iu tbe Oil

mistaken for the veritable seuator, who.
by tbe way, is now doing some very hard
work for his constituents. However, a
little explanation satisfied the reporter
that it was only a case of similar names,
but the handle for a joke was insight,
w hich was manipulated as follows:
'Do von know Henry Blackinan, sen

Quiet Cimti'st Ttie Mayorship Closely
Cuatf sled.
The i lection, last Tuesday, passed ofl
very quietly, uot the least distill banco
being noted, and nothing more than a
ipii'ited, thuuji friendly contest, en

The following is the vote, nud those

For Mayor, T. J. Matlock, 1)2; Frank

Tlieie was some talk of contesting the
Mayorship, it being alleged that one bal
ot wnB uoiiuted which should have been
ltro"ii out. Iu this event, the resul

piestitm was not "scratched" in the
isnnl manner, hut had after the names
esired to lie marked off, a simple cross
r plus mark. It was very plain to see
or w h un Ihe ballot was iuteu led, yet
his might uot satisfy the law on that
oihjnil, with which the Uazmtth's scribe
s not well acquainted, and therefore
,'eutiucs no opinion ou the subject.
