Auto Accident Near Corvallis—-Commence Free Hitchrack, Watering Trough and Rest Room ment Program s--New Rickreal! Postmaster. YOU ARE WELCOME LEG B R O K E N T W IC E . Independence Car at High Speed Leaves Road and Dashes Into Farm . Fred Hooper, of Independ ence, was thrown from the car of Dr. Young, also of Independ ence, on the Corvallis road near Granger Sunday afternoon and his leg was broken in two places below the knee, as the car plunged through a fence at the side of the road after the driver, Dr. Young, had lost control of it. The car was badly smashed. No one else was injured of the five men in the car. The party were coming from Corvallis and, it is said, were making high speed along the smooth road by the farn/of John Kiger. They swerved from the road to pass a rig, and as the big car turned back Dr. Young in some manner lost con trol of the steering geer and the car plunged up a bank and through a fence. It went sev eral feet into the garden and dragged down a long strip of fence. Hooper was thrown out as the car struck the fence. The others managed to remain in the car. Another Independence auto mobile containing E. Young and wife, came along in a few mo ments and the Injured man was placed in it and taken home. He will recover, although the breaks are very painful. The auto was taken to Independence this morning.— Albany Herald. C O M M EN C E M E N T W EEK.
