Monmouth’s Oldest Man.
T. Orville Waller, the oldest
man in Monmouth, celebrated
his 90th birthday Wednesday and
all his friends called on him for a
few minutes during the day. Mr.
W aller was born in Morgan
county. 111., in 1822, and crossed
the plains to Oregon in 1849, set
tling in Polk county on a dona
tion land claim. The first store
in Eola was built by him in 1856.
He has lived in Monmouth since
1890. His first vote for president
was cast for James K. Polk, and
he is still a voter attending the
election here on Novem ber 5th.
