The following article was clip ped from aLostJatos Cal., paper: An interesting engagement was made known yesterday at a charming luncheon given at the W. J. Curtner home in South Crittenden street, when Miss Lydia B. Curtner announced that laie in Jure she would become the bride of Mr. J. Walter Cri der. Miss Curtner is a lovely and accomplished girl, a graduate of tiie King Conservatory and a student o f Mills College. Mr. Crider is the son o f Mr, and Mrs. J. W. Crider, o f South Second street, and a successful young Los Gatos merchant. A dozen girl frienos o f the young bride-elect were bidden to this luncheon. The afternoon was delightfully passed with dainty needlework, music and conversation, the repast being served late. The dining room was beautifully decorated, red being the keynote and American Beauty roses and maiden-hair ferns the flowers. Broad red satin ribbons were drawn in a canopy effect from the electric chandelier to the corners o f the room, and Japanese baskets filled with greenery and roses were placed about it. The place cards, candle shades and favors were hand painted, glowing red roses being the flower, and added much to the decorative effect of the already beautiful room. The red color scheme was also carried out in the menu, which was fault lessly served. Miss Curtner’ s interesting se cret was disclosed by the favors, which were handsome, hand- painted sachets that were deco rated with the entwined initials o f the happy twain. She was showered with felicitations and the affair was a complete success. T h e s t r o n g m a n h a s a s tr o n g s to m a c h .
