About 6 q’clock yesterday even- ' ing a crowd o f 37 high school girls accompanied by four of the high school teachers, the Misses Kuykendall, Rossiter, McKosky and O’ Connell, went down on the banks o f the creek to spend the evening. Mrs. E. H. Hibbard passed away at her Dallas home last Sunday, after an illness o f 18 months from dropsy and heart trouble. The funeral occured Monday at 2:30 from the family home. Rev. D. M. Metzger offi­ ciating, and the remains were laid to rest in the I. O. O. F. cemetery. The pall bearers were W. H. Boales, Charley Campbell, H. S. Butz, J. B. Nunn, Elmer Gilliam, T. D. Phillips. Mrs. Hibbard was born Sep­ tember 26, 1845, at Mimfield, New Brunswick. She was mar­ ried to E. H. Hibbard in St. Paul, Minnesota, 42 years ago, and they lived there until Octo­ ber, 1891, when they came to Oregon, and settled where they since resided. Mr. Hibbard pas­ sed away some years ago. Eight children were born to the union, o f which six are still liv­ ing, they being Mrs. E. C. Hoo­ ver, o f Roseburg, Mrs. C. D. Long, of Lincoln, Neb., Harry Hibbard, Percy Hibbard, Hattie and Amy, o f Dallas. The death o f Mrs. Hibbard is much regretted by her many friends, made during her long life among us. She was one o f nature’ s noble woman, a devoted wife, fond mother, and steadfast friend, and has gone to the re­ ward earned by her life o f doing for others while on earth.
