one husband between them, and with
this numerous company they have not
closed the brothels or closed the gam
bling dens or purified politics. Indeed,

four states where women vote. It is a
sad picture where a man, for the sake of
office, sells his integrity, but it is a sad
der, and a common sight, in the states
where women vote, to see women »ell
their virtue for offices.
I can give specific incidents with
names, places and dates, where women,
desiring to he assistant county clerks,
etc., are sent from the candidate’s office
to the political boss to there offer her all
at the shrine of a man who, hut for pol
itics, would not he allowed to enter her
home. In every womens’ suffrage state,
the proverb has had a double emphasis

years of service given by him as
marshal of Dallas and his well known
fearlessness and energy in the appre
hension and arrest of those who break
our laws might have had no’ a little to
do with the almost clean record of
the county in this respect. As a local
terror to evil doers, J. M. Grant lias
no equal ii. this county. But where
he lias particularly shown in tin* du
ties of tlie office, is in the collection
of taxes. There he has a record that
skins by a large majority that of any
other occupant of the office, and
shows how well adapted lie was for
the duties. Last year there remained
uncollectahlc on the delinquent tax
list only $1(18.01. Such
a small
am unt of money left to turn over to
the pro|H*r officials as delinquent has
never yet been approached, in fact by
several
hundreds.

ly well when they got the «mount
down into the hundreds. Mr. Grant's

surprise to every county ollher, and

will he pleasing to every taxpayer, and

candidate in this county, lie has
fairly won by earnest endeavor and
