A Mineral Spring on D. L. Keyt’s
Farm Near Perrydale.
On one of his farms near Perry dale
Hon. D. L. Kcyt has a spring that has
for some years been uoted locally for
its health mending properties. It has
cured a number of eases of rheumatism
and other ailments, in fact the water is
an all around health provocative, but
most particularly adapted for stomach
ailments and as a blood purifier. Mr.
Keyt had it analyzed by the Corvallis
college chemists, but when we saw him
yesterday he had forgotten the exact
formula and ingredients, blit soda, silica,
and iron, are of the highest proportion.
He is a firm believer in the curative
properties of the water and mentioned a
a number of benefited and cured cases
to prove bis claim. Some day we may
see a great health resort established
there. But to the strange part of the
spring we now come: It is boarded uj
to the height of some two feet to keep
it in clear and good condition, and until
the morning after the San Francisco
earthquake always remained at the
same level, both winter and summer.
No motion of any sort was ever noticed,
it being just a calm, quiet pool, with
properties all ready mentioned. On
the morning after the earthquake the
water was found to he in a state of vio
lent eruption, bubbling and throwing
itself to a height of three and four feet.
The water did not seem to increase in
volume but became violently agitated,
and has so continued to this day, al
though not quite to the extent of the
first few mornings after the earthquake.
The spring undoubtedly has connection
with some subteranean cavern or cur
rent affected by the earth’s convulsions,
and it is the opinion of manv that an
other earti quake may make of it a gush
er, and perhaps a hotoife.

proof of the value of the remedy, At
the time I got it at Foshay

a cold which settled in my kidneys. It
made me so weak and lame that 1 could

There will be a slight change in the
West Side Southern Pacific time card,
beginning June 9. Thereafter, train
No. 2, for Corvallis, will leave daily at
7 a. m. instead of 7:40. Returning,!
the Corvallis train will reach Portland
at 5:56 p. in. instead of 5:50, lengthen
ing the schedule 35 minutes. Longer
time to make the run is found to be
necessary in order to make the con
stantly increasing number of stops.
Harriman is going to to take his spite
out on us too. The trains are surely
slow enough now—you can make better,
time in an auto.
