Seventeen counties in Pennsylvania
now have straight prohibition party of­
ficials. Hurrah for prohibition !” The
notorious South’ Carolina State Dispen­
sary system went out of business Feb­
ruary 0, 1900. The bill, while rt wipes
out the state dispensary, allows the
counties to continue their own dispen­
saries, providing they wish to do so. It
allows them, also, to vote for prohibi­
tion if they choose. Charleston is the
only city that is allowed license. The
license is to be $1,000 if the constitution
can be evaded. The constitution for­
bids license, providing for only the dis-
joensarv or prohibition. The Wine and
Spirits Gazette, of July last, says:
“ The prohibition element is at present
