W H ITE M A N . The very charming arrangement for a double window drapery shown in the cut is designed for a bedroom or boudoir, hut it might, i f the material were select ed aright, be used with equally good ef fect, in the simple “ sitting room" of a country home. As shown in the draw ing, the window is draped with inexpen sive cotton crape, old blue In tone, with a simple conventional figure in white. W h ile it is charming in color and excel lent in its lines, it costs an absurdly small sum. The crape, which is a yard wide, call be purchased for 15 cents h yard, and the edge o f a single white ball for a trifle more. In order to get abso lutely free use o f the window both for light and air the curtains are hung from a small rod beneath the drapery that adds so largely to their effect. They are looped in preference to being allowed to hang straight, as that method regulates without sacrificing the amount o f air de sired. The drapery over the pole, o f course, is stationary and does not move as the curtain does, so that even when the greatest exposure is obtained there are graceful folds and lines in place of the hard, ugly woodwork that is ordi narily seen. Cretonne, madras, Japanese crape and almost any o f the excellent lightweight materials now in vogne might well be used. Albany l.ocal ¡/ally, Except Sunday. f tag; SALEM, P R IC E $ 1 . 0 0 . C.
