Our town was almost deserted Satur day, most every one going to the Ball- eton picnic and reporting a good time. J . K. Hears has bought 2,000 bushels of wheat at Perrydale and has several teams at work hauling it over for ship m ent to McMinnville. Mr. Mathews, the Sheridan photo grapher, is in our midst and is kept busy with both young and old comiug in to have their likenesses taken. T h e band hoy* have been practicing every other night for the last ten day* preparatory for their entertainment which comes off Saturday evening Jun e 17th. The R. L. Burnett fishing parly fl at went up on Mill Creek Friday fishing returned Sunday evening and repoit the weather some what misty and the oreek too high for good fishing. The entertainment given at the school house last Thursday evening with the Edison phonograph by Mr. Carpenter was highly appreciated by all who heard it, it being the first that has been here. Those who have never heard a phonograph missed a treat.
