Early last summer Messrs. B. J. Kendaff & Co., of
Fnoshuigh Falls, Vt., made a contract with tho pub
lishers of the Press for a half column advertisement
for one year, setting forth the merits of Kendall's
Spavin Cure, At the sumo time we secured from tho
firm a quantity of books, entitled “ Dr. Kendall's
Treatise on the Horse and his Diseases, which wo are
giving to advance paying subscribers to the Press as a
premium.
About the time the advertisement first appeared in
this paper Mr. P. (J. Sclicrmcrhorn, who resides near
Colliers, had a spavined hoi so. Ho read the adver
tisement and concluded to test the efficacy of the
remedy, although his friend* laughed at his credulity,
lie bought a bottle of Kendall's Spavin Cure ami
commenced using it on (he horse, in accordance with
the directions, and he informed us this week 11 at it
effected such a complete cure that an expert horse
man, who examined the animal recently, could find
no trace of the spavin or the place where it had been
located. Mr. Sehermorhorn ban since secured u copy
of Kendall's Treatise on the Horse and his Diseases,
which he prizes very highly, and would he loth to
part with at any price, provided he could not obtain
another copy. So much for advertising reliable arti
cles.

A hure Cure for Blind, Bleeding, Itch-
ing ami Ulcerated Piles has been discover-
ed by Dr. William,(an Indian Remedy,)
called Dr. William’s Indian Ointment.
A single box has cured the worst chronic
cases of 25 or 30 years standing. No !
ouo need suffer five minutes after apply- |
ing this wonderful soothing v edic;ne. j
Lotions instruments and electuaries do !
more harm than good. William s Ointment |
absorbs the tumors, allays the intense I
itehing, (particularly at night after get- |
ting warm in bed,) nets as a poultice, gives i
instant relief, and is prepared only for
Piles, itching of the private parts, ami
for nothing else.
Read what the Hon. J. M. Coflinbern j
of Cleveland has to say about Dr. Wil
liam’s Indian Pile Ointment; I havt
used scores of Pile Cures, and it affords
me pleasure to say that I have never
found any thing which gave such immedi
ate and permanent relief as Dr. William's
Indian Ointmeut.

CEORCE FAIRCRAVE8,
U w . Arkor. Polk Countr,
This Dryer is the latest improvement in Fruit Dryers, having been
patented in August, 1881. It lias the largest capacity of anv Fruit Drver
sold at the price, and is the most easily and economically operated of anv
on the market. The fruit trays are raised by an elevator, operated by a
lever at the bottom, and can be put in or taken out without loss of the
heated air, and without exposing the fruit to a cold draft. It has also a
feature not possessed by any other dryer, to-wit: Ik has r> (lectors at the
bottom that throw the fresh air on to the furnace, thus heating the air be
fore it goes to the fruit. This is a very important feature. These dryers
will be built only on orders, and orders should be sent in early, in order to
insure their being filled.
(Heretofore at the head of the
Reedville stud) will make the season
of 188,3 as follows:
North Yam hill, Mondays; Lafayette. Tues
days; McMinnville, Wednesdays and Thurs
days; Bellevue, Fridays and Saturdays.
ilambletonian Mambrino is a beautiful dark
bay or brown, 1.’» hands 2£ inches high and
weighs over 1,100 (xmnds. H e is unsurpassed
for style and beauty; long-bodied, with a rangy
neck and blood-like head. He is heavy-mus
cled, and ao for feet and legs no horse can excel
him.
Of his prepotency as a sire there can be no
doubt. A ll hit colts have the impress of his
high form and superb courage, and when
placed on the market have, so far, commanded
(at the same ages) as high a price as the get of
any horse in the North Pacific.
J Hiring the last year his get was awarded
many premiums ami was the winner of the
three-year-old threc-in-five races at Vancouver
and the State Fair, defeating in both races the
finest field of three-year-olds that ever came
together in the Northwest.
P E D K illK K . — Hambletonian Mambrino
was sired by Menclaus (the sire of Cleor.v, rec
ord. 2.18/, and sold for 915,000), he by Rys-
dyk's Hambletonian.
First dam. Olean, by Border Chief.
Second dam, Olinda, by Olive-.
Third dam by Chorister, he by imp. Con
tract.
Menelaus-’ first «lam. Jesse Bull, by Long
Island and Black Hawk.
Second dam by Young Duroc, he by Duroc,
he by Djojncile.
Third dam by Cofhn’s Messei^er, son of
imp. Messenger.
Border Chief, sire of Olean, was by old
Mambrino Chief, first dam by Highlander,
second dam by Glencoe, third dam by Post
Boy, son of Henry that ran vlch Eclipse.
Thus it will be seen that Hauudetonian
unambrino has eight Messenger crosses and
Mites the two greatest strains of American
trotting Mood— those of Hysdyk’s Hamble
tonian ami Mambrino Chief, being a lineal de-
| sccndant of imp. Messenger on each side of
1 the house. T«> this, the very quintessence of
i American trotting blood, he unites the rich
racing strains of Glencoe, Wagner, Chorister
i and
Po; t Boy, famous in the annals of the run-
j ning turf on both sides of the .Atlantic. He
also has the Bashaw blood, through Long
; Island Black Hawk, the first horse that ever
trotted below 2:40 to a road wagon.
Terms. SWa to insure; 925 by the season.
Care will be taken to pi event acci«ients, but
no responsibility assumed.
