Thoro tiro a fow men in our statu,
porlmps ono or two in ench county,
and sometimes nioro, who havo novor
boon in sympathy with tho allianco
and havo novor coiiBidoreditothorthan
a 'kind of agricultural Kocioty, although
Bomo of thoin aro taking advantago of
tho organization to light into potty
ofllccs, tlioy aro always winning that
wo should not got into politicn. Thoso
moil havo novor been in harmony with
tho reform movement which wo had
but aro in tho way of everything lik
progroiH in tho order, and whonovorun
oilbrt is niado to take a positive statu
upon tho allianoo platform, thoy wil
immodiatoly cry out that wo will in
torforo with tho democratic party
To this wo say either bo an alliance
man or got out ot tno way. l ou aro
not only a reproach to tho organization
but you aro in tho way of this movo
mont, which is destined to reform this
country, from tho powor of money to
oppress. Tho ullianco must bo a unit
and tho man that will not go with tho
majority of his alliance brothron, am
having optiosod a movemont m the
Btib-alliaiico, and will not abido by its
dooision, is unworthy of tho namo of
nllianeoman and should bo put out of
tho ranks. Thoro aro sub-alliances in
Georgia who aro not afraid to turn
such renegades out of thoir ranks, and
in many casus thoso mon havo a mini
ber of friends who will not follow thorn
in anything, but who hko thorn too
well to turn thorn out of tho ordor.
Whonovor this is tho caso and it bo
comOs known to tho county allianco
tho lodgo should bo suspended by tho
county allianco until it purifies its
ranks. Lot tho Ocala platform bo our
Btaudardof alliancoism, and whon a
niomber of tho allianco who is on this
platform goes out into tho world and
opposoa it, ho should immodiatoly bo
put out of tho ranks. Wo can bettor
afford to light a thousand on the out
eidoof tho order, than ono on tho in-
sido; and yet theso onimissarics aro tho
people's enemies and aro in our ranks,
tho brothern aro afraid to turn thorn
out because thoy hate to offend a fow
good pcoplo. Wo boliovo that tho al
lianco is tho only hopo for this country,
and this hopo should not bo crushed in
any such way. Purify your ranks,
havo cither allianccmon or nono,
Southern Allianco Parmer.
, Heretofore the farmers' organizations
havo mado objections to tho state fair
1 because tho state board of agriculturo
offered them no encouragement to
prepare exhibits. Tho board this year
offers to agricultural organizations of
Oregon special premiums amounting
to .pOO for tho best exhibits of grain,
grasses, fruit and vegetables.
Best exhibits of grain, 1st, if 50; 2nd,
.$25.
Best exhibit of grasses, 1st, $50; 2nd
$25.
Best exhibit of fruit, 1st, $50; 2nd
$25.
Best exhibit of vegetables, 1st, $50
2nd, $25.
Every indication is that the fair will
bo bigger and better this year than
ever before. Already an unusually
largo hum bur of booth privileges have
been constructed, this is only July.
A. F. Miller, of Portland, has been
appointed superintendent of the fruit
department, which is divided into
eight classes, viz : Fall apples, winter
apples, peaches, pears, plums and
prunes, quinces, grapes and sweep
stakes.
Any consideration given to tho
question of " presidential probabilities
in 1892 would bo valueless which did
not tako into serious account tho
Farmers' Allianco movement. From
a more speck upon tho western politi
cal horizon it has, with wondrous ra'
pidity, grown to be a great cloud, which
tho astuto political leaders of both
parties aro watching with anxiety, not
wholly unmixed with alarm. Through
tho west and through tho south tho
movomcnt has advanced with remark
able celerity, gaining enormous
numerical forces day by day. Latter
ly it has found supporters in both tho
middlo and eastern states, and tho leg
islation bearing tho Allianco trado
mark has been introduced, not only in
congress, hut in almost every state
legislature, including that of Pennsyl
vania. Philadelphia Lcdgor.
The Doatructlvo Dinger Craze.
Tho "armors' movement" is not
confined to farmers alone by any means.
Thoro is a general spirit of dissatisfac
tion among tho laboring olawos, and
who can blamo thorn for it? That our
present system of government is not a
government for tho people is plainly
tip parent. Diwwtisfaction at such a
condition of affairs is but natural.
St, Louis Globo-Demosrat.
Tho gingor habit is worso than tho
ordinary liquor habit, becauso it is
more rapid in its effocts, and means
oarly ruin to tho health of tho individ
ual. It has only recently como to tho
attention of tho physicians and drug
gists that in thousands of families tho
poppcry doso that has bomo tho popu-
ar appearanco of innoconco and re
peatability has becomo an agent of
dobatichory. Tho tinoturo of gingor,
or Jamaica ginger, as it is popularly
known, is the strongest and most irri
tating alcoholic solution known
ranking next to alookol absolute
which is undrinkablo, and standing
equal to comniorcial alcohol, which is
nover used as a bovorago. Tho Jamai
ca gingor is sold by druggists and
grocors in four-ounco vials, and tho
unbottled tinoturo is rotailed at ono
ounco and upward.
in prayer and thanksgiving for the
marvelous escape, and was dismissed
with a tremulous benediction.
