James Guiler, representing tho Risdon
Iron Works at San Francisco, has re
turned from Washington and other East
ern cities, which ho lms visited in tho
interests of his firm to secure priecB for
supplying iron and steel necessary in
construction of 8,100 and 5,500-ton cruis
ers for the United States navy, for which
tho Itisdon Iron Works are to submit
bids. While in Washington Mr Guiler
had an interview with the Secretary of
tho Navy, who was greatly interested in
tho welfare of San Francisco, and partic
ularly in respect to the Risdon Iron
Works entering into this new enterpriee
and bidding for government work. lie
