est proof of their superiority.
We unhesitatingly guarantee the J. I. Cae "Agitator" Thresher to thresh as much

more durable and run with less expense for repairs than any other thresher ever made.

which has proven itself to be so by years of trial in tho hands of the leading farmers and
tlircshermen of the Northwest, and is known to be a perfect success. Is it not much
safer and hotter for you to purchase a machine which has been thoroughly tested for
years iu Oregon and'Washington, and is known to be a perfect success, than to purchase

Almost any day an old m an, with one leg
missing, maybe seen hobbling aroind town
encumbered with a buck-saw, seeking for
work. When he find- it he goes in with a
will and never lets up till his work is ac
complished. He is an inmate of tho county
poor house and his name is Albert A. .Mc
Laughlin. We know not what brought
him to this condition, but surely it is
through no fault of his. Iu a conversation
with him a few days ago ho informed us
thathewas hoarding all his little earnings
for the purpose of buying a cork leg which
he thought would enable him to work with
greater uiise, and that be would then be
able to support himself. As tho leg will
cost nearly u hundred dollars it will be a
long time before ho gets it, unless ho is as
sisted. Mr. Sehoonover, thu elllcient and
kind-hearted supervisor of the poor farm
has drawn up subscription papers sub
scribing liberally himself for the purpose
of raising money to buy the log for tho old
man. One of tho papers can bo found at

Tho numerous residents of tho classic

the distance at least one-half and givo tho
peoplu there easy access to the county seat,
