at :? o'clock r. t., lfSi, at his home in Eagle
valley, regon. has cast a gloom over a
happy family and a large circle of friends
Mr. Siinoni was a man of splendid phys
ique, ainl to all appearances in perfect
health until only a short time before his
jintimcly death. He wa a man of energy,
doing everything he attempted with his
might. A a busine man he was honcM,
seeking the advantage of none. As a friend
he was faithful and obliging, frank and out
spoken at all times. He held with tenacity
to hjs conviction of right, but when con
vinced of hi error, would gladly yield.
As a husband be was thoughtful and true,
as a father he was positive, but kind. Our
loss is great, but his gain is greater. Mr.
Simonis leaves a wife and family whom we
commend to the sympathy of friends and
the comforter of the sad hearts of the deep
ly bereaved.

The weather is lovely here. Tho
building boom still lasts. The county

Centralia and now wo know wo have
a population of over seventeen hun

about eight hundred. Very good in

it would bo to their advantage to sub

We met witli some encouragement
and considerable discouragement.
There is no question about the busi
ness men wanting tho road, but about
the time the (Jrando Kondu valley
proposition was made to them, Ellens-

our proportion to death with theirs,
I think, howover, tomothing will be
subscribed in Tucoma. The mutter
