property of the county in his charge.
In the oflico of the county clerk wo
find u great improvement in regard to
tho manner of keeping the accounts of
tho county, and also of the arrange
ment of the files and records pertain
ing to that office in regard to f-yslcin,
good orderand neatness, believing as
wo do, tho ollice to be in better condi
tion than at any time since the Organi
zation of the county.
Wo find that tho several Justices ,'of
the Peace of tho county have failed to
comply with tho provisions of an act
of the "legislature, entitled: "An act
to provide for the publication of a re
port of tho countv finances. Approved
Feb. 14, 1887." Wo Attribute the lact
to n non-distribution of the laws to said
Justices, and recommend that said
several Justices be supplied with tho
laws of the state of Oregon, and that
said law be rigidly enforced.
We commend oursherifl'A. N. Ham
ilton for tho diligence he has exercised
in the collection of our delinquent
tuxes, and find that owing to his dili
gence in the collection of said taxes,
our delinquent tax list is is now less
than it has ever been since the organi
zation of our countv.
Jn conclusion we will say that we
havo been in session four days, and
have disposed of all matters coming
before us, to tho best of our ability, and
according to our oaths as understood
to bo our duty, according to the ad
vice of our Dist. Attorney and the in
structions of tho court, and no further
business being before us, wo ask that
we be discharged.
Permit us to return thanks to the
Hon. (J. W. Walker,' judge of tho
above entitled court, to M. D. Clifford,
Dist. Attorney, to James Hayncs, our
bailiir and to other officers of the court,
for kind, courteous and valuable assis
tance during the time wo have been in
session.
