I ttt ulqVot, and kindly solicit the
lad, readers of the Scoct to adopt
j mis plan, and we sliH-erel trust Wrv will
not overlook n thing of so much impor
tance. Wo shall begin by itayine that we nnd it
best to make a practice of calling on Gran
gers (that arc new a nival in the nelghbor
hood.) and before they finve a chance to
lieecuiie aei)Ua!nted w Ith the people of that
Immediate vicinity, loll them all about your
iteighbur. Always make It a H.int to se
lect for your victim, some cxai t young la
dy of your acquaintance, who Is respected,
in evely seme of the wot. 1, by all who blow
licrHiie w ho i or has been kwping com
pany with some young gentleman, whom
you wNh tp captivate. In jour conversa
tion, always lie sure w bile speaking of your
neighbors, not ti state fact, but always
tell falschod, because by so doing you
may injure your neighbor In tho estinia
tion of your new friend, and you yourself
w ill be more highly rusiected by all. If It
so liuppcn you are censured for telling
falsehoods, do no' acknowledge It, but di
ny it to the verv' last, and tell everyliody
that you never said such a thing In all your
life. If after you have tohl a falsehood and
had to deny it, then tho liot thing Unit you
can do, If your victim hns any little sisters
brothers or friends, be sure to treat them
disrespectfully on every occasion, because
they are to blame for it all. O
Another thing that will add mm h to your
importance, in church, al school, at a par
ty, or any social assemblage, is not to fail
to give vent to your charitable spirit bv
making remarks about some lad on tile
next seat or in some other tortioii of the
house. You may vuiy easily attrait theat
teution of the atidlanco bv moving about,
gigllng and easting scornful locks across
the room, at some other Iitdy present
In practicing tho above plan, you not
onl.vfineceod in acijulrliigthe title "gossip,"
but you invariably bring notorietv upon
both yourself and associates.
