appears that he has become a somewhat reg

The other monuDg, at the time of the eclipse

with other thoughts, he thought evening
was approaching, and started out joyously
for bis regulation call. The young lady
was not prepared for an ear!y morning call,

day evening, new J. W. Webb was en

and an introduction by C. A. Seh!
brede, he delivered one of r.he ablest
lectures we have had the pleasure of
hearing for many years. The Baptist
Church was ci'bwded to its utmost ca
pacity; we think the largest congrega
tion that ever assembled in Oakland.
This fact is certainly favorabe to the
general opinion that many of the peo-J
le-of Oakland and vicinity are iu real
tiuufst iu temperance efforts. Mr.
Webb remarked that "Some one has
told me that the temperance cause was
dead in Oakland, well, if it is. it is the
liveliest corpse I have ever seen.'
Much favorable comment was ehci
ted on account of the most excellent
music furnished by the choir selected

Mrs. C. A. Selilbrede, Miss Nettie
Henderson, Miss Mary Dodge, Messrs.
C. N. Gaddis, J. T. Bloom field, C. P.
Houston, G. R. Sacry, C. A. Sehlbrede,
C. L. Chenoweth and Rev. Mr. Atkin
son; Mrs. Henderson presiding at the
gan. The music consisted of an
opening piece .en titled, "Where is my
Buy To-night." After prayer by Rev
P. C. Parker, a beautiful temperance
song entitled, "A Temperance Jubilee
Song." was sung with much animation
and enthusiasm. Following the lec
ture, the song, "Yield Not to Tempta.
tion" was sung by the choir, the con
gregation then aang "The Old, Old
Story," thus closing an occasion of
much pleasure and profit.

Washed-Out Hair
There is a sort of pallid, chalky com
plexion which the novelists call a
"washed-out complexion." It is ghast
ly enough, and no mistake. -. Wasbed
onr, faded, discolored, or parti-cQ'ored
hairjs almosl as repulsive and melan
choly. Parker's Hair Balsam will re
store your hair to its original color,
whatever it was brown, auburn or black
Why wear moss on your head, when
you may easily have lively, shining hair.
