The St. Louis Globe-Democrat of Friday
morning, April 25tb, gives a graphic descrip
tion of Cole's great shows, and in paying the
performance the highest tribute of praise it
makes special mention of the wonderful
crowds iu daily attendance upon this truly
marvelous entertainment, which is to exhibit
in Roseburg en Monday, July 4th.
' It verily seemed that everybody in St.
Louis attended the two performances of
Cole's great shows at Nineteenth and Tine
yesterday. At the afternoon entertainment
the tents were full, while at the night per
formance the throng of eager applicaut3 for
admission was so dense that the ticket wagon
had to be closed, as every available inch of
space was occupied. The splendid circus

was carried out entire, with a skill and ex

Another Graceful Tribute Paid toTfj .
Cole's Euge Circus-
The highest tribute that can 1e paid to any
public enterprise is to say that it deserves
public patronage and is free from all unsa
vory surroundings and W. W. Cole's great
shows have the reputation of being clean,
pure aud well conducted, as attests the, fol
lowing extract from the Lawrence Journal
of May 4th. It says: "Yesterday Cole's
mammoth show exhibited iu onr city a? pre.
viously announced. The street procession
was all that could be asked, and fully np in
every particular to what had been prom
ised. On entering the show tent one was
struck with the bright and . new aspect of
everything. - Mr. Cole's 'attendants were
gentlemanly and extended every courtesy
possible, a most acceptable change from the
surly, crossgrained peop'e so often met at
similar places. The menagerie contained
many rare animals, some never before j seen
in this city. An hour was given before and
after the entertainment for inspecting them.
The circus proper presented many very enter
taining features. The trapeze performance
especially was vociferously applauded sev
eral times, and the maay other . attractions
were greatly enjoyed. Mr. Cole certainly
has a great shoxv, and he has the good for
tu le to have a first-class management in all
r spects. He will be welcomed back should
he retura to our city again. Cole will ex

is a troupe of genuine Bedouin Arabs whose
performances are marvels of athletic excel.
lence. A "human fly," or a lady ceiling
walker is another new addition. At least
$300,000 has been expended during the
winter in obtaining new features and re-fit
ting this great show. Nearly every raee of
people, civilized and uncivilized, will be rep
resented. As many as fourteen bareback
running horses viill be seen in the ring at
one time. An elephants that reads, wrest

among the many animal curiosities, while
Samson, the mastodonic elephant, will tower

to the extraordinary magnitude of this enor

THOMAS PRICK.
Eldorado-
Gaily bedight, a gallant knight,
In sunshine and in shadow,
''Had journeyed long, singing a song,
la search of Eldorado.
But he grew old, this knight so bold,
And o'er his heart a shadow
Fell as he found no spot of ground
That looked like Eldorado.
And as his strength failed him at length
He met a pilgrim shadow.
"Shr-dow," said he, "where can it be,
This spring of Eldorado?"
Quoth the shadow: "For the benefit o
suffering humanity I will state thut the El
dorado spring is situated three miles west
rom Rosegurg, and a supply of the water is
kept constantly on hand and for sale by Dr.
S. Hamilton, agent, Roseburg, Oregon."
Mr. Gko. W. Jovbs. Dear Sir: I have been
troubled with neuralgic pains in my head and cheek
bones, for several years, and had cive up all hopes of
ever getting cured. I went to your medical springs
with my son James and got some of the water, and
drank it freely nd . fouud that it- wm a mild physic.
1 used it three times a day for a little more than two
months, and the pain- left me and I have not felt
them since, aud that has been 17 months ago.

Geo. W. Jokes. Dear Sir: I would here state to
you that a year ago I suffered untold agonies on ac
count ot piles (blind) and went to rortland to get re
lief from doctors there. I met Mr. Apple of Kose
burg, who advised me before seeing the doctors to
try youoEldorado Mineral Water. I did so and had
one dozen bottles sent to me by A. E. Champagne.
I used one-half dozen bottles, taking right before ev
ery meal, one small glass f ulL I not only was re
lieved, but 1 am certainly cured by what I used, and
tiianmui torit, because 1 buffeted more than 1 can
express. I would advise any one suffering from this
disease to try your Mineral Water. Should you
have any occasion to use this statement do so. You
are at liberty on my account. I think this is tho
least 1 can Go for you. as I was cured by it. Be
spectfully yours, JULIAN JOSEPH.
ROSEBURG, Dec. 3, 1883.
GEO. W. JOXES: Dear Sir. From sheer curiosity
I was induced to try Eldorado Water and waa not on
ly surprised but highly gratifleJ with the result. I
nave lor many years been a sufferer irom dyspepsia
and have tried everv kind of eiin known to
pharmacy and without result. The contrary was my
experience from the ue of your mineral water. Ta
ken according to directions it produced immediate
relief and iu a short time, if continued, would secure
permanent cure. To any who will avoid irritating
stimulants, 1 am Batislied it will prove of valuable
comfort and benefit. As a general regulator I found
it most excellent. L. F. LANE.

I have also used the Eldorado sprinsr water from
Jones' gprinp, Douglas county, Oregon, and am fully
