fhe eflFect of the enforced service f
two years in the army. , He said it
was not demoralizing but tended to
keep men from the farm and bring
litem to- the city after they had
learned city ways while in the
army.
The inspector came Wednesday"
. and with much uncertainty as to
what was coming, the boys marched
out for inspection. As always hap
pens, the unexpected . came to pac-s
and commands were given which
were not expected, but aside from
two er three slight mistakes the
chiS went off very nicely . After
the drill the officers were all in
vited up to the Agricultural Hall
and introduced to Major Febioger.
He is a jolly army officer and the
toys all liked him much better as
a& acquaintance than as an in
spector. ; He spoke a few words of
commendation and then excused
the Soya, saving that.be knew they
were tired.

been staying at Cauthorn Hall for
a day or two. Mr. Tiffany spoke a
few moments to the boys at supper
Wednesday evening. The boys
Bay it is the best talk they have
beard for a long time. He repre

and that is the kind Horace Greeley
aid for young men to ally them
selves with if they wish to make a
mark in the world.
Dr. and Mrs. Hill, of Hill's Mili
