These is a propaganda afloat in
umany Eastern cities th.it has for
r'its aim a general beautifying of
the municipal environment. The
lan as it has been reported in the
newspapers, says the Telegram,
iis simplicity itse.f. It means an
organization of the people in each
tfelock in the resident district, with
sa. view to securing such co-operation
as will not only produce the
vfeest re-snhs in the way of adorn
vanent for the home surroundings,
-but at the siuie time bring about
3the greatcsc possible harmony in
the effect of color and mass.
"There is nothing in this scheme
lmt what should commend itself
to every resident owner who main-
tains a r ride in the appearance of
" his own property, and has a prop
er regard for the artistic fitness
-of things in matters municipal.
In this block organization,
which we are told works satisfac
torily in Eastern cities, there is a
suggestion of small beginnings
locally that might lead to mar
velous results. In any section of
the city where at present there is
little attention paid to improve
ment of this character, the opin
ion may be saftly ventured that
if this organized block movement
is ence launched the first example
will find ready followers, and as
results show for themselves other
-sections will fall in line, and good
results will follow. The sum
mer travel to the coast will soon
:-set in and many visitors will
spend the noon hour in this citv,
and take advantage of the time
to take a look aronnd. Let us
nnake our city so attractive that
-everyone will want to coine again
-It is every good citizens duty to
ilove his home, and it is easy to
:3ove it if it is lovable. Make it
attractive. Your children will be
unconsciously influenced for good
ssccd you w:ll be compensated in a
lutmdred ways. Wake up, clean
up,. spruce up. If you live ia a
rented house, buy it. If you are
-unsettled, settle; then trim your
lawn, set out rose bushes, train
vines and paint the feoce. Brush
JOp; and if your wife won't help
you but she will.
