an interest in county exhibits.
At its meeting Saturday the Cor
vallis Grange looked pretty thor
oughly into the matter, and it
has appeared to them that it
would be a capital scheme to
hold a county fair in Benton,
even though there may be no
concerted action regarding a
county exhibit at the state fair.
For the purpose of determining
what course to pursue, and to as
certain public sentiment in this
matter, it has been determined to
hold a meeting in the Armory on
the O. A. C. grounds at a o'clock
in the afternoon, Saturday, July
14th.
At this time it is- hoped that
all classes of citizens will turn
out and voice their ideas. The
object of holding the county fair
is not to make it a mere agricul
tural show, but to have every
class of industry represented.
It could be made a matter of
much interest to to all if properly
managed. There could be a
stock exhibit; a department of
cereals; manufactures of various
kinds; native inventive genius
would receive recognition; all
professional people and trades
men would be encouraged to par
ticipate ; fine arts of every nature
should have a place; everything
of a domestic character, pertain
ing to the household, needle
work, embroidery, and hundreds

Benton county, but should it be
divided into seven separate tracts
it would be at a sacrifice to all, it
is thought. In pursuance of this
idea the heirs have inaugurated a
new regime for the handling of an
estate of this nature and Saturday
they caused articles of incorpora
tion to be filed with the county
olerk. The company incorporated
under the name of the "Lilly Com-

to be elected by the stock holders.

ply an experiment and there may
be a little difference of opinion, even
among legal lights, as to the success
of this new departure, but it is the
intention of the incorporators to
abandon the project should it fail
to fulfill its promise.
