Mr. Slavenjs father of Amos, William
and Mrs. McNamee', died on Wednesday
at the residence of Mrs. McNamec on

here from Illinois, though we believe he
was a native of Ohio.
During the recent floods near Los An-

On Monday last, in the Flatwoodj,
Will and Harvey Alexander, and George
Lndscy, started out to lind some stray
cattle. Thy atae across tho trail of a
cougar, which was soon'efossed by that
of a War. They left that of the fdrfaet '
and tracked the latter to a hollow tree.
Two shots brouglit trim out, and a third
ended him. The bear weighed about
400 pounds. On Tuesday pursuit was
newed on the cougar frail, which re
sulted in capturing a black Marten.
