Accident. As Frank McCann and R. Fraker
yore returning from Salem the other day, and
when near tho residence of William Mooru the
fore wheel of the wagon fell to pieces, and the
Sudden falling of one side of the wagon threw
McCann upon tho ground with, such force as to

serious damago sustaiuod, however, and ho is
about town as usual.
Arm Hurt. J. E. Smith while shoeing a

An invitation was given us to take a look at
tho " Engino," which we did and a,fter a close
inspection were com tolled to pronounce it " A.
No. 1." From the engine roon, we ascended to
the Hall and fotuvl one of the cosiest places
imaginable, everything being in app',e-pie or
der. The. citizens of Albany con template giv
ing a grand a,frair at the Fair Grounds on the
Fourth' of July, admission to bo freo
; and on tho 5th and fth tfce races ato to take
place at tie same spot. A purse of $509 will
be given, to tho winners. Mr. RcdQeld and Mr.
Hillibidel were to leave Albany this week to
go east of the mountains. Monteith's mills
were in operation as also were Messrs Foster's.
Albany has improved very, considerably during
the last four years, and is still improving, and
tho chances arc, unless more interest is manifes
ted by the property holders of Salem it will not
be many years ere Albany will outrauk it as a
city.
