We congratulate the Temperance wor d on th
success which seems everywhere attending
the use t Vinegar Hitters. It establishes the
fact, long contended for by Temperance phy
sicians, that nothing which intoxicates is ever
beneficial to the sick. Certainly no prepara
tion contouring alethd has ever accotppVshcd
such cures of mJtlnrious fever, biliousness, dys
pepsia, rhcumathun, lung complaint constipa
tion, and general debyity, as we hear of from
all quarters, as the result of this famous rege
table fpeciSc. No true philanthropist will re
gret to see rpiritnous liquors expelled from
medicine, if they can be safety dispensed with
and that they are not beneficial in any case of
sickness, whatever its character, appears to
have been demonstrated at last. If public
(opinion is capable ! making any impression
upon the minds of the Facility, they will ere
long introduce the most popular of modern
medicines into the hospital, - and prescribe it
in their practice. The millions have given the
article a fair trial; it has more than answered
their expectations, and no theoretical opposition
can ffhake their fnith in it.

THE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS UNP0P
ular rule at the late Agricultural 1 Fair,
although a source of great annoyance to visit'
ors and f ycation to Marshals, was not en
tircly barren of good results, especially to the
people of this vieinity who Are sagacious
enough to profit by the facts developed. It
seems that in ejecting parties violating the
rulo, the Marshals found great difficulty in
some cases by reason of the clothing of the
offenders giving way, while others more roughly
handled were removed from the ground with
out the least injury to their clothing. This
mystery was solved by the Marshals when
they found on investigation, that the clothing
which stood firm under the sturdy grip of the
officers was purchased (with the exception of
one velvet suit)at thetoreof Murphy A Croas
man, in the bank building, corner of State and
Commercial St., Salem, who re a good supply of
the ame kind of clothing is always ou hand,
together with a full assortment of fashionable
hats and gents' furnishing goods. 33tf.
