Kaby's Stocking.
Hang up the Bahy'? Btockinj,
Be sure end don't ferret !
The dear little dimpled darling!
Sbe ne'er mw Christmas yet.
But I've told her all about it,
And she opened her big blue eyes,
And I'm eare the understood roe,
She looked so funny and wise.
Dear, dear ! what a tiny stocking t
It doesn't take much to hold
Bach tiny pink toe as baby's
Away from the fro t aud cold ;
Bat then for the baby's Christiana
It nerer would do at all ;
Why, Santa Claua wouldn't be looking
For anything hah so small.
I know what well do for the baby ;
I'e thought of the very best plan ,
I'll borrow a stocking of Grandma
The longest that ever I can.
And you'll hang it by mine, dear mother,
Right here in the corner, so,
And write a letter to Fanta,
And fasten it on to tbc to. -
"Write, " This is the baby's stocking
That bangs in the corner here ;
You nerer bare seen her, Santa,
For she only came this year.
But she's just the blessedest baby ;
"And now, before you go.
Just cram her stocking with goodies
From the top cleur down to the toe.

Ain't Santa Taua a fanny man ?
Doin' round at night,
Puts his spec tics on hi eyes,
An sees widout a yight.
Down the chimney he does turn
Wiv books and toys many;
Dolls an' tups an' ittle dutn?,
An' ever tind of tanny.
Ue has abas-tet on bis arm,
Aimer on his back ;
And dey's as foil of pitty sings
As ever dey tan pack.
An he does round to eyer hou?e,
An't ever door he's stopp'n,
To di soccefio to ever one
That has han'd up his stottin.
But my stottin was o berry ittle,
Last tirae he turn :
Dat I didn't dit any xing
But one bid suder plum.
But III dit more di time, y u bet,
My dear old Santa Tam ;
For fteid of hanin' my 'ttle sot up,
I'm doin' to ban' up Ma's.

The Gypsies. The Gypsy Parlia
ment, which meets once every soven
years, and conits of delegates from all
the eountrifs of Europe, is expected to
assemble oon near Cod tad t, in Gor-
many. The king of this nomadic race
ii one Joseph Heinhard, who ha
reached the venerable ate of ninety
eight years. Jle has had seven wives,
and is the father of forty-five children.
Our American idea of the whole Gypsy
tribe is rather unfavorable. They arp
regarded generally as a set of hore and
chickm stealers, as few in number, and
without organization or government.
It is with some surprise, therefore, that
we fiod that there are in Spain about
.40,000 of these Gypsies ; in England
more than 18,000, while Austria has
07,000, and Moldavia and AVnUachia
are the chosen homes of nearly 200,000
more. Their religion has been the sub
ject of much unsatisfactory discussion.
Perhaps the Hindoo eay ing, "that there
arc seventy-two religions and a half in
the world, the half being the religion
of the Jhats (or Gypsies)," comes a
pear a correct definition as any.
