After receifiug the Loiioi of the
nomination for mayor by there
publican convention of "the citi
zens of Albany, I was called upon
to state what counse I intended to
take, if elected, concerning the
completion of the bridge across
the Willamette river now in
course of erection under contract
made by the city for that purpose,
1 stated before that convention,
and I now state over my own sig
nature that instead of obstructing
the completion of the bridge I will
do everything in my power to have
the same completed at the earliest
diy possible under and in accord
ance with the terms of the con
tract now in force lor its comple
tion; ami not only that, but all
other contracts entered into by the
city should be faithfully and hon
orably carried out, and will he
by me if elected. Further; I pur
pose if elected to be guided and
governed by the express w ishes of
the people of the city, and heieby
pledge that every and all petition's
shall receive a respectful hearing
and due consi deration so far as the
mayor has the right or authority
to grant the same. Ian in favor

course all action of the delegation
is hell in abeyance until Uepie

his influence toward promoting the
aspirations of the little loss. It is
not believed that Simon can be
appointid, for the men who are
working for other candidates will
probably respn sent Simon in such

not be in favor with Mr. Harrison.
The prospects for W. Lair Hill, of
