Hhares in that "close corporation"
are rapidly enriching themselves
at Die expense of the tax payers of
the city. Much care and economy
are necessary right here.
I'o sibly tlie names of all the
council men may be on the tax roll
but their assesements are ton light
to make them feel the etlect of ex
travagance. We want new blood
in this city and plen'y of it. Our
condition is such tha', in due time
we ought to outgrow any city in
the valley ; but to induce capital
to tarry with us, taxes must be
kept down to the minimum con
sistently with the neceffaiv
growth and development which
mu.-t iouie if we are careful. This
can be produced by loppirg oil

which tl e present city government
has fattened Uon itself and rigid
ly applying the moupy received

and improvement of the city. The
present city government has lust
the confidence of the put.l'c or at
least a largo nmj rity of l he tax
payers and they would show gxil
sense by cpiietly retiiing at the
coming election and making no
attempt to further perpetuate their
powe r.
Tnis is but the tir.-t installment.
With your kind permission I shall
