THE CITY ELECTION.
A Fall St of Officers to bs Eltottd on
D-.c-niber 7
One month from to-day the city
election will Im held to select a
full setofollicers, including mayor,
iTC Jider, treasurer, marshal and
one coiincilnien from each ward.
The retiring couii'.'iluien are B. F.
Tabler, from the lirst ward, W.
R. (iarrett, from the second ward,
snd F. K. Allen from the third
ward.
There are also a street com
missioner, city attorney, citv sur
veyor and policemen to be chesen,
which will he done by the new
council, these not being elective
oilices. The present ouncil
nave iiniieriaKen a toou woik mi
carrying forward in impoitant
system ot piihlic improvements.
ami it is to be hoped that the
councilmen to be selected w ill be
men who will do as well. It is
refreshing, in these days of boodle
aldermen and exposures of munici
pal t rooke lnt s throughout the
country, that this can be Bid of
the Albany city council.
The Hkkai.d has been asked to
"pitch into the city election cpies
tiou," and jjive somebody fits, but
the IIkkai.u sees nothing to pitch
into. The commencement of work
on the bridge was delayed until it
tine its building lite in the
season, but if the county eouiuiia
sioiK'rs had been as prompt to act
as the city council the work could
have h-en commenced earlier.
The bridal is now well underway,
and if tins substantial structure is
completed without any stoppage,
it will he an important public work
well done.
The work of c miplcling the city's
sewerage sysem is progressing
favorably. The council has been
remiss in its duties in not en
forcing properly owners to cjnnect
w ilh the. old sewers, and has been
sevoely criticised in tnese
coli'Mius for such neglect, but it
has lately undertaken to see that
this is done, and will doubtless
earrv out itsj policy tot tateiid.
The Hukai has no axe to giind
mi the city election, or auv o.her
election. When ihe city ollirals
ertji in the'.r du'y they W'U not
he ciiticised in these cohvris
s'uply because it may be a popula'
notion to cuss the citv council,
but when any waste of the people's
money is at?mptcil er any
obnoxious measuies promulgated,
the I'-teiiu will at all limes be
found ready tj vigorously
cluMiniion tne interests of the peo
ple, on the side of a clean adui'-i-
isiratioti of the city's aH'a8 and
piogressive public measures.
At Tie ahpios'jlMng city election

Light, flaky and digestible pie crust and all kinds of
fine pastry can be made with Dr. Price's Cream Baking Pow
der without butter or with one half the usual portion, if pre
ferred, or with a small quantity of lard or other shortening
as desired. Pie crust made in this way is more wholesome
and digestible besides being more economical and easier pre
pared in addition to saving all the butter if desired. One
third the flour is also dispensed with, and the crust is rolled
that much thinner, the raising qualities of Dr. Price's Powder
swelling it to the requisite thickness. Those who enjoy the
appetizing qualities of the delicious home made pie will
rejoice to know this secret.
Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder is the only powder
that contains the white of eggs.
Dr. Price's Cream Baking Powder is re
ported by all authorities as free from Ammonia,
Alum, or any other adulterant. In fact, the
purity of this ideal powder has never beeu ques-tioned.
