An applanation.
In the circuit court docket i a

wrong iii.pretsion. It is a suit to
annul the alignment of G. W.

The idea of Mr. Cusick, who is
one of the wealthy men of Al

assignment strikes hU friends as
rather fuany, ami he has already
heard from some of them on the

I.ate last evening a man named
Atkinson, who runs a buiirding

city and applied to Dr. Davis to

He said that he had been shot
in au altercation with Wm. Mc
Kinnon, well known in this city.
His story is that he was passing
Mr. McKinnou's pi ice on Tuesday
morning, when the latter came out
of the house and hailed him. He
was driving in a burkboard, ai:d
when h stormed Mr. McKinnon
asked him whal he threatened to
thrash his (McKinnon s) boy for.
Atkinson said that he had not
threatened to do bo. The other
said that his boy told him he had ;
Atkinson then said that the hoy
had lied ; whereupon trouble be
gan. Atkinson says that McKinnon
came after him with a stick or a
elub, and sti lick him with it. He
returned the blows with a Ptout
hazel whip-stock. McKinnon then
drew a 38 taliber revolver and
li.ed at l.ii", the slot taking etlect
in the left leg, jiiat alove the
ankle. He had remained in the
buckboard, and when the shot
was fired, whipped his hordes and
drjve aw ay at a rapid pace.
Atkimon came at once to this
city for treatment, and says he will
swear out a warrant this morning
for the arrest of Mr. McKinnon.

For an Annoal Fair.
The fair grounds adjoining this
city should be improved and an
annual fair and races inaugurated.
Linn county possesses some f the
finest horses in the state, and
they should be exhibited to the
public, along with the agricultural
products of one of the richest por
tions of Ortgon. An annual fair
would be a profitable thing to
Albany and the country is well.
This matter should be loked after
and preparations begun in time
for a fair next vear. It need not
necessarily be an exclusive county
fair. The bridge will then be com
pleted, and Benton and adjoining
counties could be invited to join
in making a grand display and
contesting in the races.
Not a Candidate.
A correspondent in the Corvallis
Times, signed "Democrat," says:
"Hon, J. P. Galbraith, of Albany,

At the Opera House,
A laige audience was present
