Last week two of Dedham's
most popular yoip g men hired a
horse and can iage and drove up
the Charles River to a well-known
place on the banks much resorted
to for bathing purposes. Undress
ing ihey carefully deposited their
clothing in the carriage and to
gether made a dash for the cooling
waves. Each instructed the other
to hitch the horse, and as a result
neither did so. yhv - in the water
the splashing frightened the
animal, and away he dashed down
the highway leading to Dedham
Village. This runaway left the
bathers in a peculiar medicament,
and one of much embarrassment.
They, however, soon recovered
from the shock and started after
their vamshidg team and gar
ments. The sprinting contest
lasted from Jenny's Dane, "Spider
Village," up to a point near Cart
Bridge, where thev overhauled
their steed, stopped him. and
grabbing i heii suits jumped into
them.
