son and wife, January 30, 188b,
commenced in the superior, court
yesterday. It was arraigned that
the defendants would be tried se-
arately and in the following order :
First, Edwards ; second, Gibbons ;
third, J. B. Rose; laat, Geo. Rose.
Contrary to expectation there was
nut little trouble had in obtaining
a jury. In Edwards' case One of
the principal witnesses for the
prosecution was Geo. Rose, one ot
the defendants, whose testimony
was objected to by the defense on
the ground that confessions made
