Following is the weekly crop
bullwtin issued by K. 6. Pague
from the Oregon -feather bureau :
The weather has been unfavor
able to the haying operationa, con
siderablo ";f.s cat and down when
the rains came on and some of it
was injured, in addition 'he rains
have delayed the hay harvest
causing it to ome too-'.onf; to he
wheat bar-, est, which in pections
has begun, and in most sections
will be in fud.sway next week.
The hay crop is far better than ex
pected. The weather was very
tteneficial to the fall and Hpring
wheat crops, also to the corn. The
fall wheat has generally rilled very
we!!, the beny larg and plump.
Tht spring wheat, which on June
1st, was thou'icht to be worthless is
growing nicely and will yield al
most an average crop in most sec
tions, Koot crops are all in a
most promisin. condition. Hons
continue to thrive and their yield
will be above average. Tins apples
aru bciij, jarcd by ti.e- cuuim
in- th. Their non-appearance at
an earlier date may be due to the
backward spring. They are evi
lentlv not appearing in full force
and are proving to be quite injur
ious. Oregon peaches are coming
into tne market, the peah crop
of southern Oregon will not be
over 50 per cent of the average
Through the Willamette Valley
the crop will be slightly better,
in wanco the peach crop appears
to be the hest. Cherries are be
coming scarcer. Berries continue
to be plentiful; water and mnsk
melons promise a very lame crop.
They r especially prolific in .Tck-
fon and Josephine counties. The
grass on the ranges of Eastern Ore-.
gon is very good, for the lateneta
of the season and cattle are in
prime condition. The wheat crop
in the Willamette Valley will be
almost an a ,jee, in Southern
Oregon abou . : . verage : in Wasco
Sherman, o :n and Morrow
counties' netter than for vears ; in
I matilla and Union couuties the
largeBt ever produced, in Wallowa
Baker. Urant, Crook and interior
counties tullv an average crop.
Keports from all sections indi
cate that a beautiful harvest is
assured.
