drawbacks. The new law would

mentioned the discovery of a man
living in the rocks up on the
Kliekitati short distance above
the French place, whom we sug
jested was mentally deranged.
He was not molested at that time
but on last Saturday it having
been learned that he was sick.
Sheritf Van Vaeior sent a hack np
with four men. Casper Pahler,
Sam VanVactor, Tom Anderson
and Mr. Warren to bring him to
town. They found him in the
same little depression in the rocks
w here he had spent the w inter
with nothing whatever to protect
him from southern storms except
a few old i a;--. He had sprained
his ankle it seems and was appar
ently sulTeringfrom rheumatism in
his iegs. which was not at all
strange considering the way he
had been exposed to the storms.
The bridge bad been w ashed out
during the winter, and it became
necessary for the boys to fall a tree
across tlie creek in order that they
might carry him out, it being im
possible to get a wagon near him.
This being done they tied him up
in a blanket and the four hoys
carried him down t ihe creek.

They hmvever got a pole and

shoulders and although the patient
