point in the Sanitary Engineer for
the relief of householders : "Just
before retiring at night pour into
the clogged pipe enough liquid soda

the pipe. Be sure that no water
runs into it until the next morn
ing. During the night the lye w ill
convert all the offal into soft soap,
and the first current of water in
the morning will wash it away

The Salem Excursion.
About 180 excursionists from
Salem came up on the lxat Sun
