and hail fell in all parts of the
state. Snow in the interior valleys,
the second week in April is
a most unusual occurence. From
a trace to one inch fell in the Wil

had disappeared by noon. The
mountains throughout the state
received a fresh coating of snow.

O. O. Savage, of Salem writing
from Koseville, Cal., says grain in
the .-acramento valley looks very
bad and is backward. He does
not think there will be over a thud
of a crop in the valley at the best.
Farmers there have done nothing
for six months and are just com
mencing to plow fallow land.
The fruit is no lietter. Peach and
apricot trees are dying by thou
sands, while the cold wind and
rain precludes any hope of fruit
on the trees not already dead.
Potatoes have been sellingatthree
and one-half cents per pound, but
