A proposition is talked of in this
city to get up a big excursion from
the Sound cities and Portland this
spring, in order to give the people
there, as well as new comers and
intending settlers in the new state
of Washington, an opportunity to
, see what kind of a country, people
wh!,t they want in the Willamette
valley. It would be a direct and
practical way of advertising the
resources of Albany and tributary
country.

granted a full pardon to Sylvester
Nichols, who has been confined in
the state penitentiary since Now 0
lst0, under a sentence of one year
on a charge of larceny. The par
don was ma I under the recom
mendation of the district attorney.
