A JUSiSESS TALK.
The IltitAi.i) lx-gir.B this morn
ing to publish the Associated I'refs
telegraphic service, which will
hereafter be furnished regularly to
ur readers. This will comprise
all of the important news, both at
home and abroad. There is but
ne great news-gathering organiza
tion and that is the Associated
Press. It furnishes the newa to
all the principal newspapers of the
country, and will tin so regularly
for the 1(kkai.i. an all night tele
graphic service having been estab
lished in this city for that purpose
anil a sjiecial night operator hav
ing been employed in the "Western
Tnion telegraphic company to take
the report. This in an undertak
ing of no small magnitude, but the
Huuai.ii Wlieves that the people
of Albany will approve of this
effort to publish a metropolitan
newspaper, furnishing the news of
the world fresh each morntng, and
will patronize it.
Albany's enviable situation with
reference to railroad connections,
together with her natural advan
tages and the forces now at work
for her improvement and growth,
are destined to make Albany one
of the chief cities of Oregon, and
as a factor in such growth the
Hekkld proposes to use every
legitimate endeavor to promote ali

liberality never goes without its
reward for it returns in the shape
of a tenfold increase in the valua
tion of property. Only the gener
ous and liberal minded man com
prehends conditions, means and
results so as to grasp the situation
and bring s.uccess. That is the
reason of Albany's growth and
prosjKjrity. Her citizens are liberal
minded and progressive men.

Tue summer of 1890 promises to
be the most active building season
known in the history of Albany.
Xew residences are going up all
over the city, and many fine busi
ness houses will be built on First
and Second streets before the
summer is ended. There are na
vacant houses in Albany, and
rents, while not exhorbitant, are
kept at fair prices, all of which
shows that the growth of Albany
is founded upon a sound and sub
stantial basis.
