Croup Can Be Prevented.
We want erery mother to know that
croup con be prevented. There is no
question about this ; as it has been
done in thousands of cases, und you
may depend upon it that when a child
takes the erouD it is wholly owinjr to
the negligence ofits parents. True
croup never apjjearbwithcu due and
timely warning; a few hwrffl or a day
or two before the attack, ta(c child be
comes hoarse. This hoar. Sies is the
first ludiitftion of croup, oid is a-SL
sign that croup is to fcSlow, unless
promptly ana properly ' tited. The
free use of Cliambt-riaiu's L'ough
Keinedy as '"irectcd with each bottle,
under the heading Toprovcnt croup,"
will dispel all symptoms of the dis
ease. This first sign of croup, hoarse
ness, may be overlooked by younjf
motberB or those not familiar with
the disease. Under such circum
stances, or when not properly treated,
the hoarseness becomes more marked,
and the child shows shows symptoms
of having taken cold, then a peculiar,
rrugh cough is developed. Even at
this stage Chamberlain's Cough Rem
edy will prevent the croup, but after
the cough has developed the croup is
liable to appear at any moment. The
proper way is to keep a bottle of this
remedy at hand, it costs but 50 cents,
and only a few doses, or at most nsj
V?yer a third of a bottle, is required to
.vispci an symptoms oi uie aisease
Cn you afford to risk so much for io
litNj ? There is not the least danger
in g.ving this remedy in large and
frequtM doses, which are always re
quired, t. it contains no injurious
substance. '.s proof of this fact we
refer to Johnv7J.,Glson,of Des Moines,
whose 18 monthS-oId boy diank th,c
cntie contents of a 50 cent bottle, of
Chamberlain's couarh remedy without
the least injury. "Certainly it made
the baby vomit very freely; but after
taking a nap he would have been glad
tohaved.ank another bottle of the
remedy, as he liked it. A similar in
stance occurred neai Valley Springs,
Dakot. Mrs, Mattic Johnson's two-year-old
daughter, Annie, drank a full
bottle of the remedy without inj'-ry.
This remedy has been the sole re
!iance of thousands of mothers for
croup, ar.d especially as a preventive
ior many ycarss, and has never been
known to fail. It is also invala:v le
for colds and whooping-cough. For
sale by Foshay fc Mason.
Disarming an I'nsecu Foe.
"This was sometime a paradox," as
Hamlet says. Since, however, the
people of America and other lands
have teen enabled to pit Hostetter's
Stcmah Bitters against that unseen
foe, malaria, it is no longer a paradox,
but an easy possibility. Whatever
malaria evolves its misty venom to
joison the air, and decaying unwhole
some vegetation imprcgnatcr the
water, there, in the very stronghold
of miasma, is the auxiliary otent to
disiirin the foe and assure efficient
protection. Fever and ague, bilious

that should chiefly recommend the
