companies, says of Helen Blythe:
"This very finished artiste gave
her second performance in her
latest success, "A Mother's Love,"
at the New Parkjtheatre last night.
It is rarely any artiste receives the
praise and creates so favorable an
opinion as did Miss lily the. It
does not seem to be generally
known to theatre-goers of Portland
that they have in the person of
Helen lily the an extraordinarily
gifted actress. Miss lilythe, at 17
years of age, was the leading ladv
of Daly's theatre, in New Yoik,
when Miss Itehan was the sou
brette. It was considered a mar
velous thing for a girl to step into
the position vacated by (.Mara Mor
ris and Fanny Davenport. This,
however, Miss Llythediddo. The
leading journalist in New York,
paid a high tribute to her powers,
endorsing her as the coining emo
tional actress, ami one of the
brightest gems on America's stage.
Miss F.lythe is surrounded oy a
splendid dramatic company. Her
leading support, John F.iien, was
leading man for the renowned
and lamanted Adelaid Niel
son, he playing ' Uoinen,' to
her 'Juliet,' for two years."
