The climate of Eastern Ore-oil
'Joes not seem to be entirely adapt
ed to a successful propagation of
the baby crop. Recently a baby
without'eyca was produced in that
region, and it is now in a dime
museum in Torlland. This was
followed by a youngster with
twelve Gngers, and now comes a
stunner from I'endleton. The fol
lowing is taken from a letter writ
ten bv a Wasco lady. After giving
the name and date of a child's
birth, she writes: "Where the
childs finders and toes ought to
have been, there were rattlesnake's
heads, and there was a small snake
"mwn from tho ton of it's head
and hung down ou its face. Tnc
head of the snake was the child's
no.-e, and whenever the baby
moved the snake on its face would
raise up, run out its tongue and
hiss. The baby only lived live
hours, but the snake part lived live
hours longer.
